Georgetown University
Established in 1789, the University was founded on the principle that serious and sustained discourse among people of different faiths, cultures, and beliefs promotes intellectual, ethical, and spiritual understanding. Georgetown educates women and men to be reflective lifelong learners, to be responsible and active participants in civic life, and to live generously in service to others. What began as Georgetown College, a small gathering of 12 students and a handful of professors, has grown into a major research university with a global presence. The University consists of four units: Main Campus, Medical Center, Law Center, and the administrative units grouped together as University Services.
