Mid-Atlantic HERC

Developed in 2008, the Mid-Atlantic HERC is a collaborative response of member institutions to the many challenges of academic recruitment and retention. Of particular interest to the Mid-Atlantic HERC is finding effective ways to assist the spouses and partners of faculty and staff to secure area employment and ways to address issues of faculty and staff diversity.

A vital aspect of the Mid-Atlantic HERC is the web-based search engine that includes faculty and staff job listings at all member institutions. This search engine is free and available to anyone seeking employment in higher education. The central location of job postings and regional resources as well as the website's ability to accommodate dual-career searches distinguishes Mid-Atlantic HERC from other employment websites.

The Mid-Atlantic HERC is composed of a diverse group of public and private colleges and universities and research institutions. Member representatives include faculty, staff, human resources professionals, institutional leaders, and faculty relations experts.

Mission

The Mid-Atlantic HERC supports the efforts of each of its member institutions to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, administrators, and staff through the sharing of information and resources.

Goals

Develop and promote a collaborative employment website for faculty and staff positions at member institutions in the Mid-Atlantic.

Promote awareness of the Mid-Atlantic Higher Education Recruitment Consortium.

Share successful methods and best practices for addressing recruitment and retention issues, including issues related to partner placement and diversity.
